bronze in 10-metre platform
SYDNEY (CP) -- Anne Montminy of Montreal won
Canada's first ever Olympic medal on the 10-metre platform when she took the bronze
Montminy scored 540.15 points on her five dives to win Canada's seventh medal of the
Games. She had the silver but was knocked down a notch on the final round of dives.
Laura Wilkinson of the United States won the gold with a score of 543.75, and Li Na
of China took the silver with 542.01.
"I can't digest it at all. I'm so excited and tired and I don't know what to do
with myself right now," a jubilant Montminy told CBC.
"I came here and I said I'd be disappointed if I didn't get a medal and I've
got a medal, so I came here to do what I had to do."
Emilie Heymans of Greenfield Park, Que., finished fifth in the eight-woman final
Montminy and Heymans will compete in the 10-metre platform synchro event on
"We're going to do our best to get a medal in the synchro event, so I'm still
just as focused," Montminy said. "We have a very good shot in the synchro event,
so watch out for us."
