Who has qualified?

Olympic Softball Team named
Hayley Wickenheiser will get her chance to become the first Canadian woman to win a medal at both the Winter and Summer Olympics. The Shaunavon, Sask., native, who won a silver medal in hockey at the 1998 Nagano Winter Games, was named to the women's Olympic softball team on Sunday. June 26, 2000

Volleyball team misses Olympic berth
The Italian women's volleyball team secured a berth in the Olympic Games with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-16) win over Canada Saturday. The top-four teams advance to the Games with one berth guaranteed for an Asian country. The Canadians, the lowest-seeded team in the eight-country competition at 14th in the world, are 0-6 and have no chance of going to Sydney in September. (Ottawa Citizen) -  June 25, 2000

Volleyball team loses to Argentina
Canada lost 3-2 to Argentina (25-20, 28-30, 25-22, 22-25, 15-13) after two missed serves near the end of the final set cost them what would have been their first match win of the tournament. They are 0-5 with two matches remaining and out of contention for a Games berth. The competition was the last chance for Canada to qualify for the Olympics in Sydney. - June 23

Volleyball team drops first match at qualifier
The Canadian women's volleyball team dropped its first match of the final Olympic qualification tournament losing 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-13) to top-seeded China.  The tournament is Canada's last chance to qualify for the Olympic Games in Sydney. Of the eight teams at the tournament, the top four get the remaining Olympic berths. - June 17, 2000

The Three Day Event Selection Committee is pleased to announce the names of the Short Listed horse/rider combinations for the Three Day Event competition at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, AUS. - June 14, 2000

Olympic Diving Trials Complete
As Anne Montminy ran away with the top spot in the women's 10-metre event at the Canadian Olympic diving trials, the drama was concentrated on the battle for the second trip to Sydney. (Montreal Gazette) - June 12, 2000

Canadian's chosen for Olympic Tirathlon
Carol Montgomery of North Vancouver and Sharon Donnelly of Kingston, Ont., lead the four-person team Triathlon Canada has nominated for the Sydney Games, where the sport will make its Olympic debut. They are joined by Isabelle Turcotte-Baird of Quebec City and Simon Whitfield of Victoria. (Montreal Gazette) - May 20, 2000

Canadian Weightlifter qualifies
Maryse Turcotte says she isn't yet counting the days, but if she needs a little help, it is precisely 151 days until the opening ceremony of the XXVII Olympic Games, where she will stride to the platform of the Sydney Convention Centre and make Canadian weightlifting history. Field Hockey Team misses chance for Sydney
The Canadian women's field hockey team probably had bad dreams about the goals that got away.  The team missed several terrific opportunities to score, including a gaping corner, during their crucial game against Team USA yesterday which ended in a 1-0 loss. - July 28, 1999
Water Polo Team Qualifies for Sydney
Cora Campbell scored twice to lead the Canadian women's water polo team to a 6-4 win over the United States on Saturday at the water polo World Cup and qualify Canada for the Olympic Games next summer. - May 29, 1999
Basketball Team Qualifies
Canada beats Mexico 80 - 37,  in bronze medal game of Olympic Basketball Quailifier in Havana and qualifies for 2000 Olympics in Sydney - May 17, 1999
