Virginia McLachlan Wins Bronze in 200m Sprint

August 31, 2012 - Canadian athletics competitor Virginia McLachlan sprinted to a bronze medal in the women's 200 metre race at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. The Windsor, Ont., based runner earned Canada's first medal from the track and field portion of the competition.

"I have so many mixed emotions right now, I'm over the moon. I've worked hard for this and remembered everything my coaches told me," said McLachlan.

Competing in the T35 class for athletes with cerebral palsy, McLachlan finished in a time of 34.31 seconds, a new regional record.

McLachlan was beaten by Ping Liu of China who won in a time of 32.72 seconds, and Italian Oxana Corso, who earned silver in a time of 33.68.
