Mortimer Finds Fourth Paralympics Medal

Sept 6, 2012 - Canadian swimmer Summer Mortimer earned her fourth medal at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, in the women's 100 metre freestyle. Mortimer touched the wall in a time of one minute, 1.58 seconds to claim third spot and her first bronze medal of the Games.

Mortimer was beaten by Sophie Pascoe of Australia and Elodie Lorandi of France.

Pascoe won gold and set a new paralympic record of 1:00.89, while Lorandi claimed silver in a time of 1:01.09.

Mortimer has already won two gold and one silver medal during earlier events. Her first medal was a silver in the women's individual medley 200m, followed by gold medals in both the 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

The 100m freestyle was her final event of the Games.

Fellow Canadian Aurelie Rivard finished fourth, in 1:02.12.
